Strictly fever was in the air! One of my favourite shows on TV. When I heard there was a Glasgow version I just had to sign Michael and myself up for it!
Strictly Come Prancing raising fund and awareness for Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland.
When I emailed showing our interest Richard got back to me straight away saying I was one of the first people to sign up. We started planning. Each couple had to raise at least £400.
We went along to the launch night at April’s Street Fleet studio. We met all the other contestants and had a wee dance.
Our names were drawn and we found out who our instructors were. Nuno Galante and Frederico Leao Ribeiro and wow they are amazing! We couldn’t wait to get started.
Let the prancing begin! Once we had chosen our song it was all go! Our dance style was a mixture of rumba and salsa. It was a great 6 weeks of training. Every session was videoed and we then practiced as much as we could- in the flat, out the back, in the salon and the Eglinton Arms Hotel kindly gave us their function suite every week for two hours.
The final night was drawing closer, we were finalising our outfits, perfecting our routine and trying to calm our nerves! Both of us have never done anything like this before so it was a bit scary. It was all for charity and that was the main thing.
Strictly Come Prancing Final 2018 Nov 10th. Da da da da da ta da da da da da daaaaa (strictly song lol)
We started off our day with hair and make up from Glamour Gran Ann and Smeena Bashir (Smeena did my hair and make up). Dress rehearsals and then pizza. The judges arrived and gave us a pep talk, our head judge was Gok Wan! We had a couple of hours to chill but myself and Michael were in the dressing room practicing and then I had a wee nap as the whole day was exhausting!
And so it begins! It was incredible! The adrenalin just hits you!
Our full dance is here- filmed by my very excitable friend Annie lol.
Hehe I don’t believe we did it! LOL! Never did we think we would be dancing away in front of all these people.
We did not go on to win the glitter ball trophy but we did win two mini ones! We also raised £480 through our Just Giving Page. The final total on the night was an amazing £15K!
A special thank you to all our family, friends and clients who supported and donated to such a wonderful charity.
And a big thank you to my hubby Michael for being my dance partner! We are going to start dance classes next month and hopefully be back at SCP again this year but with a bit more experience. Its amazing how happy dancing makes you! Its good for your soul.
So for now…… Just Keep Dancinnnggggg!
